Eva Mendes and Ryan Gosling: Inside the life of Hollywood’s most private couple

They have become known as one of Hollywood’s most intimate couples since they met while filming the 2013 drama The Place Beyond The Pines.

During their romance, Eva Mendes and Ryan Gosling have managed to keep much of their relationship in check and have only rarely posed together on the red carpet.

Occasionally, however, the A-listers give fans a glimpse into their private world.

Here, DailyMail.com looks at the few times the pair have talked about their relationship — from raising their two daughters Esmeralda, eight, and Amada, six, to Ryan’s love of his mother-in-law’s arroz con leche.

THE REAL REASON THEY AVOID THE RED CARPET TOGETHER

Eva recently revealed that she and Gosling don’t go to red carpet events together to keep their personal lives private.

She opened up about this when she shared a clip from The Place Beyond The Pines to her Instagram account earlier this month, saying she captured the “magic” she and Ryan shared.

When a fan expressed hope to see more of Eva and Ryan along with his new Barbie movie coming out, the Hitch star revealed why they don’t go to red carpet events together.

“We don’t do those things together,” Eva explained. “Like these pictures I’ve posted, I’m only comfortable posting them because they’re already there.”

She clarified in a follow-up comment, “By “not comfortable” I mean exposing our private lives that we value. However, I am still eager to make another film with him…”

RYAN CHANGES EVA’S THINK ABOUT HAVING CHILDREN

Before her relationship with Ryan, Eva said she never wanted to have children. But that all changed when they started dating.

“I never wanted babies before until I fell in love with Ryan,” she said on the Australian radio show 96.6 in 2020.

“And then it sort of got to where I was 40 having my first baby and then I think I was 42 having my second, so it worked out that way I had a career and then I switched my focus to my family.” ‘

HOW THEY DIVIDE WORK AT HOME

Even A-listers have to do the dishes, and Eva and Ryan have found a routine that works for both of them.

Ryan is the cook. He’s an incredible cook,” she said People. “I think there’s a really nice balance between “you cook, I clean.” And it just works for us.’

HOW THEIR CHILDREN COLLECTED EVA’S ‘SPANGLISH’

Eva revealed that she taught her children Spanish at home, but they eventually picked up on her love of speaking both English and Spanish, aka Spanglish.

“Well, the Spanish in my house… I’m Cuban and we’re trying to teach the kids Spanish, and it’s harder than I thought,” she admitted on The conversation.

‘I speak Spanish and they pick it up. So it’s cute, but it’s not technically a language. It’s Spanish.’

She gave a cute example: “So our little girl will say, ‘Mommy, my boca hurts because I think something got stuck in my serve.’

“It’s so cute, but it’s not going to go over there.”

RYAN’S LOVE FOR HIS MOTHER-IN-LAW’S ARROZ CON LECHE

Ryan has embraced Eva’s Latin heritage and revealed his love for his mother-in-law’s arroz con leche last year.

“If I could only eat one thing for the rest of my life, it would be Eva’s mom’s arroz con leche. It’s like an angel is crying on your tongue,” he explained.

RYAN LEARNS SPANISH

Gosling also revealed his favorite Spanish word – coño, a word that Gosling says works on all occasions.

The word refers directly to female genitalia, but it is “often used in everyday speech with the versatile force of ‘damn’ or ‘f***’,” according to Dictionary.com.

My favorite word in Spanish is coño. You can’t use it wrong, it’s everything. It’s coño, coño. As if coño is always there for you.’

BECOME A HOMEMOTHER

Eva recently shared her experience of motherhood while chatting with Hoda Kotb from TODAY.

Despite appearing in a long list of blockbuster movies since the early 1990s, Eva told Hoda that she considers parenting the “most creative” thing she’s ever done.

‘I’m an actress, I’ve designed clothes, I’ve done a number of different things. But this is the most creative thing, is to create life with it.’

She also discussed her decision to retire from acting after the birth of her daughters, noting that her own childhood inspired her to become a stay-at-home mom.

“I really took it back to when I was little. My mom was able to be there for me at home until I was about 8 or 9 and those memories just formed who I was for me those years with her,” she explained.

Eva considers herself “lucky” to have the opportunity to retire from work and focus on being a hands-on mother during her girls’ formative years.

“And so I just felt lucky enough that I was like, ‘Damn, I really want to be with them this time.’ And now, you know, I’m obsessed.’
