Eva Mendes, 50, opens up about ‘regrettable’ Botox and other cosmetic procedures

Eva Mendes recently opened up about embracing her sexiness at 50 and her views on cosmetic treatments to maintain her youthful glow.

The Cuban-American beauty, who looked as radiant as she did in her last film, 2015’s Lost River, directed by her husband Ryan Gosling, revealed that she is open to beauty procedures as long as they produce reversible results.

“I’m not afraid to try things that are safe, because most of these little treatments are, let’s say, reversible,” she recently said in an interview with The times.

Seemingly revealing that she has experimented with Botox and other temporary cosmetic treatments, she said: ‘When you get Botox, if you don’t like it, it goes away. There have been times when I’ve regretted something… and then you just wait and see.’

The candid chat comes after the star, who retired from Hollywood after the birth of her first child with Gosling in 2014, previously addressed critics who accused her of denying plastic surgery rumours.

Mendes took to social media in 2021 and said she wanted to “clarify” a few things after her response to a comment led to fans claiming she was “denying plastic surgery allegations.”

“Never ‘denied plastic surgery,’” she wrote. “All I did was respond to a specific comment about SM,” she continued. “I would never deny that stuff. I’m all for it. All. For. It.’

At the time, she also shared photos of herself undergoing a procedure called Mono-threading, which involves the insertion of needle threads at various points to facilitate lifting and tightening of the skin.

In her The Times interview, the star also admitted that Gosling makes her feel ‘real f*** sexy’.

She has been involved in a romance with the Hollywood star, 43, since 2011 and reportedly married in a secret ceremony in 2016.

Eva credited Ryan for always making her feel good about herself, while admitting that she “never thinks of herself as beautiful.”

But thanks to Barbie star Ryan, Eva feels on top of the world when he ‘gives her a look’.

She told me The times: ‘I feel really damn sexy sometimes. The way my husband looks at me is just…sometimes I think, “Oh my God.”

“That may not sit well with people, but a big part of how I feel is a reflection of what he gives me.

Mendes’ big hits as an actress included Training Day (2001, in her breakthrough role as Denzel Washington’s mistress), Hitch (2005) and The Other Guys (2010), before starring opposite Gosling in The Place Beyond the Pines (2012 ).

In 2014, the same year she had her first child, she left Hollywood.

‘I’ve never been in love with acting. “I don’t mean this to be self-deprecating, but I wasn’t a great actress,” she told the outlet.

The actress and mother of two talks about the couple’s two daughters, their parenting style and one of the household rules that would not go over well with many children.

It turns out that the famous duo doesn’t allow their homeschooled children to use smartphones or social media at home.

Mendes and Gosling welcomed their first daughter, Esmeralda, now 10, in September 2014, and their second daughter, Amada, eight, in April 2016.

‘Putting my child on the internet and saying, ‘Oh, look for something,’ to me that’s the same as saying to her, ‘Oh, just go out on the street in the middle of the night. It’s going to be okay’ Mendes, 50, revealed.

Mendes (born Eva de la Caridad Méndez) would also talk about how she and her partner try to educate their children about their privileged lives, compared to most people in the world, by telling them stories about growing up with little money.

“I explain to them what I didn’t have, what Ryan didn’t have when he was little, how hard we had to fight, the dark days of living paycheck to paycheck, and this and that, but they never really will. know unless they experience that,” the Miami, Florida, resident explained.

After suffering from anxiety attacks during her lifetime, Mendes tries to bring self-esteem into their lives by giving them tasks to do around the house to build their self-confidence.

“I still have all this fear and I see myself passing it on to my kids,” Mendes said, before admitting that she herself was a “good kid” growing up in Miami, which she also credits to her late brother.

“He said, ‘If I ever see you out there with a man or smoking, I’m going to kick his ass and take you to school every day,'” she recalled. “Sheer fear made me a good kid.”

During the interview, the retired actress wrote that Gosling felt “sexy” in her 50s.

“I feel really damn sexy sometimes,” she said. “The way my husband looks at me is just…sometimes I think, Oh my God. That may not sit well with people, but a big part of how I feel is a reflection of what he gives me.”

The new couple wasted little time and started dating during the filming of the movie.

After playing a fake family with Mendes in The Place Beyond The Pines, Gosling realized he wanted to start a family of his own with the actress.

“I wasn’t thinking about kids before I met her, but after I met Eva I realized I just didn’t want to have kids without her,” the longtime Hollywood leading man said GQ in 2023, before adding. “There were moments on The Place Beyond The Pines where we pretended we were a family, and I didn’t really want it to be that way anymore.”

The couple made their relationship public when they went to Disneyland together, and they were seen holding hands and walking close to each other.
