The Flamin’ Hot trailer was released earlier this month on Searchlight Pictures’ official YouTube account.
The clip followed the story of Montanez, played by Jesse Garcia, a former janitor for Frito-Lay who claims to have invented Flamin’ Hot Cheetos during his tenure with the company.
The cast was completed with artists such as Annie Gonzalez, Dennis Haysbert and Tony Shalhoub, who play Judy Montanez, Clarence Baker and Roger Enrico respectively.
Flamin’ Hot is based on Richard’s 2013 book A Boy, a Burrito and a Cookie: From Janitor to Executive.
The former janitor then took on an executive role at PepsiCo and became a motivational speaker.
A 2021 article from the Los Angeles Times questioned his story of the snack’s invention, and a Frito-Lay spokesperson stated, “None of our records indicate that Richard was involved in any way in the Flamin’ Hot test market.”
