Eva Longoria comforts volunteers as she helps clean up debris amid LA fires after donating $1million in relief

Eva Longoria put her words into action when she was spotted volunteering amid the devastating fires in LA, just days after pledging $1 million in relief efforts.

The 49-year-old Desperate Housewives star, who had to evacuate her own home in Southern California, joined forces Wednesday with the National Day Laborer Organizing Network, This Is About Humanity, and other volunteers to support the devastated city.

Dressed in all-black work clothes, gloves and an LA baseball cap, Eva was seen preparing boxes of essential goods and assisting workers with the clean-up.

The director and producer did not hesitate to roll up their sleeves and help clear fallen trees from the streets.

She later embraced fellow volunteers with big hugs.

Her hands-on support comes after she pledged to support the Latino Community Foundation and the California Community Foundation with her generous $1 million donation.

The organizations have pledged to help with the immediate and long-term recovery of communities affected by the weeks-long wildfires that have ravaged the city.

Tens of thousands of residents have been forced to leave their homes since the infernos broke out last Tuesday.

The death toll currently stands at 25, and more than 40,000 hectares have been scorched by the unprecedented flames.

Longoria’s new $1 million donation comes from the Courage and Civility Award presented to her by Jeff Bezos last March.

Bezos’ annual $50 million cash prize is awarded to those who make substantial contributions to society.

Longoria has ten years to name a charity to which she will donate the money, and now she has chosen LA’s Fire Restoration as the first recipient, per The Hollywood Reporter.

She will say more about her donation when she appears as co-host alongside Jenna Bush Hager on Jenna & Friends on Tuesday.

Following the co-hosting gig, Eva will return to Los Angeles, where she will volunteer with Global Empowerment Mission and visit World Central Kitchen’s Eaton Fire operations.
