Euphoria star Angus Cloud has opened up about the injury that led to the scar he has on his head.

The 24-year-old actor, speaking to Variety’s Power of Young Hollywood issue, went into detail on the incident that left him with a curved scar on his scalp’s left side.

Cloud said that the incident took place in his native Oakland in 2013, when he fell into a construction pit in the downtown area, as he made his way down a poorly-lit street.

‘It’s real, I broke my skull on Friday the 13th,’ said Cloud, who plays Fezco on the HBO series, adding that he ‘woke up 12 hours later at the bottom’ of the construction pit. (There were two Fridays that landed on the 13th in 2013, in September and December.)

Cloud said he ‘was trapped’ in the pit, but ‘eventually climbed out after’ an undetermined amount of time.

‘It was hella hard to climb out, because my skull was broken, but my skin wasn’t, so all the bleeding was internal, pressing up against my brain,’ Cloud said. ‘But they wasn’t gonna find me down there. I found myself. Or God found me, whatever you want to call it.’

The actor said that he eventually was able to pull himself out of the hole he estimated as 10 feet deep, dealing with internal bleeding near his skull, broken fingers and blurry vision.

Cloud said he didn’t feel any pain amid the multiple injuries, as he ‘was in survival mode’ at the time.

Cloud said he boarded a bus to his mother’s house, where he struggled to communicate what had happened.

‘Because I was a kid!’ Cloud said. ‘I was 14 or 15. She thought I was on drugs, cause my pupils was hella dilated. I was trying to tell her what happened, but I could only start a sentence – I couldn’t finish it. So I was like, “I’m just gonna go sleep in my bed” … I would have died.’

His mother sensed the danger and did not let him sleep, and after she gave him water, he ‘started throwing up hella mouthfuls of crimson red blood.’

Cloud said his mother took him to a children’s hospital, where he underwent surgery for his injury.

Cloud said he still has communication issues as result of the accident, as his speech is 'probably a little bit slower' since. He was pictured at an Oscar party in LA in March

Said Cloud: ‘That’s what the scar’s from. They cut my head open, they put some screws and a plate over where I broke my skull and – sh**, sealed me back up, and that was that.’

Noting that ‘the brain is so fragile,’ Cloud said that he was ‘loaded off morphine’ during a five-day stint in the ICU before spending additional time in non-intensive care units.

‘It was damn near like nothing really happened,’ he said. ‘I’m so blessed to just have minor brain damage. You know, it’s so minor it ain’t even really worth speaking about. I did some physical therapy. And actually, some speech therapy, but that’s about it. Only for a couple weeks, ’cause I was like, “Ehh.”‘

Cloud said he still has communication issues as result of the accident, as his speech is ‘probably a little bit slower’ since.

‘I mix the front of one word with the back of the next,’ he said. ‘I’ll scribble-scrabble two words together. Mix-match.’
