It has to keep going up. When we get that idea, we would definitely love to do it again? Yes. Would we love to get back together with the cast? Absolutely.’

He added: ‘It was simply the best experience of my life. But there’s nothing in the works right now, but it’s absolutely something we’d love to do.

Eugene’s son Dan, who played Johnny’s son David, previously told People that he hopes there will be a movie one day.

He said: ‘Some people have been asking what [about a movie]. If there’s an idea that comes to mind that is worthy of these wonderful people, it has to be really good at this point.

‘Let’s cross our fingers that a very good idea comes to us soon. I would love to work with these beautiful people again. This has been the most incredible experience.’

The father-son duo accepted the award for Outstanding Comedy Series at the Emmys in 2020.
