ESPN fires senior NBA writer Zach Lowe as brutal layoffs continue at network

ESPN has parted ways with yet another major NBA talent, as writer and host Zach Lowe has reportedly been fired.

Lowe joined the company in 2012 as a writer for ESPN’s now-defunct Grantland site, before moving on to ESPN.com and TV roles on NBA Today and NBA Countdown.

The news was first reported by The Athletics.

Lowe is said to have been making over $1 million a year, which was reportedly the main reason for the company’s decision to fire him.

Lowe’s departure follows the retirement of ESPN’s NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowksi and the firings of Robert Griffin III and Sam Ponder.

Zach Lowe has reportedly been fired by ESPN as part of the network’s cost-cutting measure

Like those moves, the decision to fire Lowe was part of the company’s fiscal year planning, The Athletic reported.

He declined to comment to the newspaper.
