ESPN ‘cancels long-running show’ in 2025 after 23 years on network

ESPN has reportedly canceled one of its legacy programs, “Around the Horn,” after 23 years on the air.

“Around the Horn” was a staple of the sports channel as a debate show with a points system, muted and engaging personalities, long before they were trendy on social media.

The half-hour show has been paired with “Pardon the Interruption” throughout its run as part of ESPN’s 5 p.m. Eastern programming block, leading into the 6 p.m. SportsCenter.

The decision to ax ‘Around the Horn’ has not yet been publicly announced, but is scheduled to end next summer. New York Post.

Tony Reali has presented ‘Around the Horn’ since 2004 and takes over from original presenter Max Kellerman.

Panelists on the show included national newspaper columnists such as Tim Cowlishaw, Kevin Blackistone, Bill Plaschke and Woody Paige. Over the years, ESPN’s own talent has been on the panel, such as Mina Kimes and Ramona Shelbourne.

What will replace “Around the Horn” is unclear, as ESPN has a few other sports discussion programs with multiple panelists, such as “First Take.”

Michael Wilbon and Tony Kornheiser’s ‘PTI’ doesn’t seem to be in danger of being included alongside ‘Around the Horn’.

With the announcement that the end of ‘Around the Horn’ may be coming soon, the iconic show has several months to pay tribute to its legacy before going off the air for good.

The topics on ‘Rond de Hoorn’ were usually about the biggest sporting events of the day, but more fun topics were also thrown into the mix.

The winner is always chosen by Reali, who moderates and scores each debate.
