An intrepid rat from New York City hitched a ride to upstate New York on the hood of a BMW, traversing miles of diverse landscapes as a man drove to a wedding.

Video filmed by Kevin Coop shows the moment he spotted the rodent crawling onto the hood of his car while driving to Roscoe, New York.

“Hey hell, I just came way upstate and I brought a damn rat from Brooklyn,” Cooper is heard saying in the video.

You see the rat run up the hood, then bury itself between the window shield of the car and disappear.

“Holy sh**!” Coop shouted. “Where did it go?”

A follow-up video shows Coop stopped his BMW car, lifted the hood and checked the engine, while also trying to lure the rat away.

“Alright go!” Coop said to the rat.

But the annoying hitchhiker quickly scurried around and disappeared seconds later, while the scream of a guest could be heard in the background.

“I don’t know where it went,” you hear Coop laugh. “Just don’t eat my threads,” he begged the fearless rat.

The hilarious video quickly went viral after being reposted to Instagram by @whatisnewyork. As of Thursday morning, it has attracted more than 20,000 likes.
