Eros in Potts Point, east Sydney, closed for the weekend after outlaw bikie gang threat

Chic inner-city restaurant has to close amid fears cyclists would storm the venue: ‘Kings Cross is not a safe place right now’

  • Police thought a biker gang might be visiting

A trendy downtown restaurant was forced to close this weekend after police handed the venue an urgent closure notice warning of a threat from cyclists.

Eros in Potts Point received an urgent 60-hour short-term closure order from the Independent Liquor and Gaming Authority (ILGA) on Friday night.

The body said it was concerned that a “serious breach” of NSW’s liquor regulations was “likely to occur on the property,” police said. Daily telegram reports.

It is clear that the ILGA issued the warrant following advice from NSW Police that an outlaw biker gang was planning to enter the premises.

A source with knowledge of the frightening situation told Daily Mail Australia: “Kings Cross is not a safe place at the moment, tensions are escalating… war is imminent.”

The information on Friday raised concerns about the well-being of guests at the posh Greek restaurant.

The ILGA said it had obtained “police information of a serious nature” and “determined that closure of the premises is necessary to prevent or mitigate a significant threat or risk to the public interest.”

The closure order went into effect at 7:30 p.m. on Friday and lifted at 7:30 a.m. on Monday.

Eros has reportedly had other recent compliance issues, including a violent fight in February in which male customers used glass bottles as weapons.

Several people were injured in the fight, but the restaurant did not report this to authorities. Instead, a witness alerted the police.

The news follows complaints from patrons that the restaurant has disappeared from social media.

A woman posted on several community pages asking if Eros was closed after being unable to call the booking number last week.

“Does anyone live here in Potts Point and does anyone know if Eros is closed?” she wrote.

“Their phones have been disconnected and their Instagram and Facebook have been deleted. As well as the owner’s page.’

Daily Mail Australia has contacted Eros for comment.
