Manchester City star Erling Haaland has sent a terrifying message to the rest of the Premier League by revealing how he plans to ‘become a better player’.

Haaland was the goalscorer for Manchester City, who started the season successfully with a 2-0 win over Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

The goal meant the Norwegian had scored in all of his opening games since moving to the Etihad from Borussia Dortmund in 2022.

He needed little time to adapt to the English game and eventually scored an impressive 64 goals in 67 Premier League games.

Despite his insane goal tally, Haaland remains unsatisfied and has put City manager Pep Guardiola to work to improve his game even further.

Since joining Manchester City, Haaland has been nothing short of an absolute goalscoring machine

Despite being a goalscoring fanatic, Haaland hopes to add another facet to his elite game

“I want to get more involved, that’s what Pep wants,” Haaland told Sky Sports after the match.

“But in games like this, do I need to be that much more involved? That’s the million-dollar question.

‘I want to give more assists and become a better player.’

Haaland’s goal was also exemplary of the message Guardiola had instilled in him.

The Norwegian pushed the ball into space with his right leg and fired past Chelsea goalkeeper Robert Sanchez with his left.

“I knew exactly what I had to do, I think it was a very nice goal,” Haaland said.

‘I remember he made a really good save on me last year, that had been bugging me for a while, so yeah, it was a perfect goal.

‘The best players are the best at the easiest things. Touching the ball with your right hand and passing with your left hand. That’s the most important thing. Pep [Guardiola] says this to me all the time.

Haaland revealed Pep Guardiola wants him to become even more involved in City’s build-up

Haaland also joked that Guardiola “won’t like me saying this” but the level of play from City’s defenders and midfielders is so high that he doesn’t need to contribute to connecting the game.

However, he knows that taking up positions on the pitch to support the build-up of play is ‘what Pep wants’.

Haaland and City now turn their attention to their second league match when they welcome Ipswich Town to the Etihad Stadium on August 24.
