Erling Haaland scored an incredible hat-trick for Man City against Wolves to see Pep Guardiola’s side move close to Arsenal at the top of the league.

When Arsenal beat Bournemouth 3-0 earlier in the day, the Premier League champions knew they had to win both games to return to the top of the table.

And Haaland made an incredible start for the Citizens, scoring from the penalty spot after ten minutes.

He added his second of the match in the 35th minute before sealing a first-half hat-trick on the edge of half-time, also from the penalty spot.

Haaland’s goals pull him away in the race for the Premier League’s golden boot, with Cole Palmer unable to score against Spurs this weekend, while Watkins is also joint second.

Man City were in complete control in the first half, with Rodri securing his twentieth goal of the season.

With Phil Foden and Kevin de Bruyne both in the starting line-up alongside Haaland, Guardiola’s side were at their strongest.

With 53% possession, City registered seven shots and five on target as they took the match to Wolves.

The visitors couldn’t do much as Haaland was in a goal-scoring mood and secured the scoring ball in the first period.

With three games to go, the Citizens know that if they are perfect they will retain the Premier League title.

However, Arsenal are currently top of the league – one point ahead of Guardiola’s side, having played a game more.

Their 3-0 win over Bournemouth was full of controversy as Kai Havertz was awarded a penalty in the first half before a Cherries goal was disallowed.

Mikel Arteta hopes his side can rely on north London rivals Spurs, who face Manchester City before the end of the season.
