Erling Haaland has said he would be ‘crazy’ to try to match last season’s 52 goals. He emphasized that he is not setting any personal goals ahead of Sunday’s title clash in Liverpool.
Haaland has scored an impressive 31 goals in 33 appearances for City this season despite missing six weeks with an ankle injury, but is treating his debut season at The Etihad as a one-off and is refusing to put pressure on himself to achieve those figures again.
“Last season was great, but it’s history,” he explained. “This season is something very new, so I can’t think about target goals.
‘I’d be crazy to think about this. I have to take things one game at a time and help the team win. That’s my main focus.’

Haaland is reaching his top form at the right time, with his tally of seven goals in his last three games coinciding with Kevin De Bruyne’s return to the side after his own injury problems.
“He is a fantastic footballer and we click with him,” the 23-year-old Norwegian acknowledged.
‘I like playing with Kevin. Unfortunately, injuries are a big part of football and you have to make the most of it when people are away. They have to come back stronger.
“We’re still going through three competitions and how the Premier League is, it all comes down to us being the best team over the last few months. It really is a huge game against Liverpool. We play football because of these games.’
Haaland also spoke highly of his teammate Kevin De Bruyne, claiming he ‘enjoyed playing with the Belgian’
