Premier League stars took to the red carpet ahead of the Professional Footballers Association’s annual awards ceremony.

After continuing their title challenge until the final day last season, players from Manchester City and Arsenal entered with hopes of winning some of the competition’s most prestigious individual prizes.

The event took place at Manchester’s historic Opera House theatre and was presented by Alex Scott and Jules Breach.

After following up his extraordinary debut campaign with another productive one at the Etihad, Erling Haaland went into the event as one of the favourites to retain his PFA Players’ Player of the Year award.

The Norwegian striker wore a black suit for the event and was joined on the red carpet by his partner, football star Isabel Haugseng Johansen.

Ultimately, however, Haaland was beaten to the punch by his City team-mate Phil Foden, who was the club’s main creative outlet as they won their fourth consecutive top-flight title.

The award is further recognition of Foden’s outstanding achievements, as he was also named Premier League Player of the Season and won the Football Writers’ Association’s Football Writers’ Association Award.

Rodri, Martin Odegaard, Cole Palmer and Ollie Watkins were also nominated for the award.

After an incredible run of success at Chelsea last season, in which he scored 22 Premier League goals and provided 11 assists, Palmer was named PFA Young Player of the Year.

Despite failing to win their first Premier League title in twenty years by the narrowest of margins, Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal side were well represented in the PFA Team of the Year.

They were joined in the team by City stars Kyle Walker, Rodri, Foden and Haaland, while Virgil van Dijk (Liverpool) and Watkins (Aston Villa) completed the squad.
