Erling Haaland and Bukayo Saka were able to claim a double PFA award after being nominated for the Young Player of the Year award.

The Manchester City Norwegian striker and Arsenal’s England striker have been shortlisted for both the Young Player and PFA top prizes.

Also nominated for the under-21 category are Arsenal’s Gabriel Martinelli, Aston Villa’s Jacob Ramsey, Brighton’s Evan Ferguson and former Seagulls midfielder Moises Caicedo.

Man City’s Phil Foden has won the award in the past two seasons, while the last player to win both awards was Gareth Bale in 2013.

Haaland enjoyed an exceptional first season in English football after joining from Borussia Dortmund, breaking the season record in the Premier League with 36 goals in 35 games.

Moises Caicedo, who has just left Brighton for Chelsea in a £115 million deal, has been shortlisted

He scored 52 times in all competitions and was instrumental in helping Pep Guardiola’s side win the Premier League, FA Cup and Champions League.

Saka was outstanding as Arsenal pushed City into the title race, with the young England star scoring 14 times and contributing 11 assists in the league.

His Gunners teammate Martinelli, who was aiming to become the first Brazilian to win the PFA Young Player award, scored 15 goals and provided five assists.

An England under-21 international, Ramsey scored six goals in 34 appearances for Villa as they qualified for the UEFA Europa Conference League. He was then part of the England squad that won the European Under-21 Championship.

Caicedo, who has since moved to Chelsea from Brighton in a UK record £115 million contract, has been brilliant for Roberto De Zerbi’s side in his first full season in England.

Ferguson, meanwhile, became the youngest Brighton player to score in the Premier League with 18, adding five more league goals.
