Bizarre Erin Molan conspiracy theory surfaces as she is axed by Sky News – as she shares rambling nine minute video: ‘I care too much’

Sky News Australia host Sharri Markson has denied that her colleague Erin Molan was fired by the network for her strong comments in support of Israel after a bizarre conspiracy theory emerged in the Israeli media.

Daily Mail Australia revealed this week that Molan’s eponymous show, Erin, has been axed by Sky News, with the commentator not given the chance to say goodbye to her viewers by the network.

On Friday, Molan’s co-host Markson wished her well in her future endeavors, writing on

Israeli news media have highlighted Molan’s repeated condemnation of Hamas in their coverage of the former Footy Show presenter’s removal by Sky.

The daily Israel Hayom referred to Molan’s response to the Hamas-led raids on October 7 last year, in which more than 1,200 civilians were killed and 254 taken hostage.

“Molan was an outspoken supporter of Israel on her Sky News Australia program,” the newspaper said.

“I strongly condemn both Hamas’ actions against Israeli civilians and the pro-Hamas demonstrations that have erupted worldwide, repeatedly using its platform to address the ongoing war.”

Israel National News reported on the anchor’s axing under the headline: “Sky News Australia fires pro-Israel anchor Erin Molan.”

“Australian news anchor Erin Molan, who repeatedly defended Israel in the year since the October 7 massacre, has been fired by Sky News Australia,” the story began.

Molan posted an impassioned nine-minute video to X on Friday afternoon, repeatedly mentioning the conflict in the Middle East and thanking everyone who had supported her.

“So that’s done now,” she said of her job at Sky. ‘But I’m not. Actually, I’ve only just started.

“So I’m sorry to those who would have hoped otherwise. I’m somewhat surprisingly a lot harder to kill than you might think.

“You see, the problem is—and it’s always been this way with me—I just care too much.

‘About you, about the world, about a peaceful existence for every child.’

Molan called Hamas terrorists “bloodthirsty murderers” and said she would continue to “fight for every hostage still held in Gaza.”

“But I know her voice will be strong and she will be successful wherever she goes, and I will do everything I can to help her,” she wrote.

‘But I need to clear up the idea that her departure from Sky is a result of her Zionism – this is patently untrue.

“No media outlet in the world has shown more leadership or clarity in Israel’s fight against terrorism and our own fight against anti-Semitism than we at Sky News Australia and News Corp.”

Daily Mail Australia revealed on Wednesday that Molan had already hosted her final show on Sky News and would officially end her time at the channel on Friday.

Although network insiders suggested Molan was blindsided by the decision to cancel her show, Sky insisted they had ended their association with the presenter on amicable terms.

“Erin has been a fantastic member of the Sky News team over the past three years and has worked incredibly hard for her viewers, passionately advocating for the issues close to her heart,” a spokesperson told Daily Mail Australia.

‘We would like to thank Erin for her contribution to the network.’

Despite the loving farewell, Molan would not show up at the station’s quiet Christmas party on Wednesday afternoon.

Molan presented her weekly news program Erin for the last time on Friday, November 29.

Network colleague James Macpherson appeared on the program last week in place of Molan, but viewers were told he was only ‘filling in’ for her and the program was still billed as Erin.

The decision to cancel Molan’s show comes just months after the breakfast radio program she co-hosted with comedians Dave Hughes and Ed Kavalee was axed by Southern Cross Austereo’s struggling 2DayFM station in August.

It is believed that the cancellation of Molan’s two major guest roles has come at a significant financial cost to the veteran journalist.

Sources said she brought in about $200,000 a year from her 2DayFM radio gig and another $150,000 a year from her job at Sky News Australia.

Molan joined Sky News Australia in July 2022 after parting ways with Nine in December last year after 11 years with the network.

She debuted with Erin at 7:00 PM on July 19 and initially replaced Markson on Sunday nights while she was on maternity leave, before her show was moved to 5:00 PM on Fridays.

Explaining her decision to change channels, Molan said she was keen to break away from sports broadcasting and focus on hard-hitting political reporting.

“Just because I can be crazy and funny and all those things doesn’t mean I don’t also have a real passion for politics or that I can’t be credible in other areas,” Molan told The Daily Telegraph. time.

‘I’ve always loved news and it’s always been my passion, I’ve just been waiting for an opportunity to delve into it.

“As my show takes off, I think the perception that maybe I’m just that sports girl or that girl from The Footy Show will change,” Molan continued.

‘As a presenter on television, it doesn’t really matter what the subject is.

‘I’ve done entertainment, news bulletins and sport, I’ve hosted ridiculous segments on The Footy Show.

“None of these things make me less legitimate in another space. The ability to do a lot of different things, to laugh at yourself and be silly, but also to be serious and believable when necessary, I don’t think any of those things are mutually exclusive.”
