Erik ten Hag says Manchester United will intervene if the hype surrounding Kobbie Mainoo ever threatens to go to the player’s head.
Mainoo is emerging as the success story of the season. He is establishing himself as a regular for United and is making a late run for the Euros after an impressive debut for England.
Everything about the 18-year-old suggests he will soak up the accolades and admiration, but Ten Hag insists United’s coaching staff will ensure he keeps his feet on the ground just in case.
“We have discussed this before,” the United boss said. ‘So far he’s dealing with it very well. If he crosses the line, we, me as manager and we as coaches, will intervene.
‘So far that is not necessary because he loves football and wants to give the best of himself, improve and have fun, play dominantly and win the game.
