Erik ten Hag makes huge decision to name shock star in defence for Man United’s FA Cup semi-final amid injury crisis as fans admit they are ‘scared’ after seeing the line-up
Erik ten Hag has made a huge decision to appoint a shock player in central defense for Man United’s FA Cup semi-final against Coventry City.
The Red Devils have been plagued by injuries this season, with Raphael Varane, Jonny Evans, Lisandro Martinez and Victor Lindelof all currently sidelined.
Fans speculated about who would play at the back ahead of the match, and in their defense a surprising name has been mentioned.
The likes of Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Diogo Dalot, Scott McTominay and Casemiro were thought to have been considered by fans on social media ahead of the match.
Ten Hag has now opted for experience in his backline and has appointed a new central defensive partner for Harry Maguire.

Casemiro has been named in the back four alongside Wan-Bissaka, Maguire and Dalot.
Although the Brazilian has little experience playing this role, he is the most defensive midfielder in United’s squad.
This is similar to when Jurgen Klopp turned to former Liverpool star Fabinho to fill a gap in their defense.
After the line-ups were published, Man United fans reacted to the news on social media.
“Casemiro CB, I’m scared,” said one fan.
“Dalot, Casemiro, Maguore, AWB… here we see Manchester United with their *checks notes* 127th different back four this season,” joked another.
Another admitted they were concerned after seeing Casemiro in an even more defensive role.
“If I bring Casemiro’s chaotic slide tackle into the box, I’m going to have a heart attack today, I can see that already,” they said.
The Red Devils know the win will set them up for an FA Cup final against rivals Man City.
