Erik ten Hag says he doesn’t want to lose Marcus Rashford after the Manchester United forward was once again linked with Paris Saint-Germain.

It emerged that Rashford’s brother Dwaine held talks with PSG officials in Paris last week, re-igniting speculation over the possibility of a move to the French capital.

Rashford is entering the final year of his £250,000-a-week contract at Old Trafford although the club have an option to extend it by another 12 months.

The 24-year-old has made it clear to United that he would prefer to stay at his hometown club and sign a new deal, but the meeting with PSG is bound to raise concerns over his future.

However, Ten Hag insists he has no plans to let Rashford go, saying: ‘He’s really important, you have seen from the first day I’m here. I’m really happy with him, and I don’t want to lose him. He’s definitely in our plans at Manchester United.’

‘I’ve not spoken yet to Rashford about the recent reports [on PSG] but he knows I really love him. Marcus knows I want him to be here at Man United – so I will tell him that again!’.

Ten Hag has spent the week trying to prepare United for Saturday’s game at Brentford after the shock opening-day loss at home to Brighton.

Asked how he has addressed United’s problems, he said: ‘What I always do after every game: I analyse the game, what went well, what went wrong, where can we improve, what do we have to improve, how we can train and we tell the players and show them how to improve to get solutions.

‘We learned a lot but I think it’s normal. When you start the season, that part is always the same: the team get together, the way we’re playing, new start and you make mistakes, football is a game of mistakes.

‘We know we have to improve in many things, clear.’
