New York Mayor Eric Adams scores meetings in D.C. with White House Chief of Staff and Treasury Secretary after blasting Biden over migrant crisis, saying he ‘failed New York City’

  • Adams said New York could face $4 billion in costs of dealing with migrants
  • “The President and the White House have let New York City down on this one”
  • He met White House Chief of Staff Zients and was supposed to meet Yellen

New York City Mayor Eric Adams held a series of high-octane rallies at the White House on Friday, days after going rogue in saying President Biden and his team have “failed New York City” in addressing the migrant crisis .

Adams said New York could face costs of up to $4 billion to provide care for immigrants who have come to the city, with more than 55,000 asylum seekers coming to the city in the past year. The numbers could rise more after the expiration of Title 42 authority.

He scored the meetings after his cutting remarks that put him outside the White House tent — despite serving on a board advising Biden on his re-election.

White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre told reporters Friday that during his visit to Washington, Adams met with White House Chief of Staff Jeff Zients Julie Chavez Rodriguez, who heads the White House Office of Intergovernmental Affairs , with other scheduled meetings with the Finance Minister. Janet Yellen and the FEMA Administrator.

New York Mayor Eric Adams said Biden and the White House “failed New York City,” then got high-level meetings at the White House and wouldn’t reveal what happened

“I have no details of what came out in the meetings,” White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said when asked about the talks.

“I’m sure there will be a range of issues and he is a partner on many issues,” she said.

The normally talkative Adams was no longer eager to talk about his high-level encounters. When DailyMail.com approached him and asked if he’d had any luck making his pitch to the White House greats, his aide interrupted and said, “he doesn’t take questions.”

That exchange took place shortly before Adams went to the White House Rose Garden, another perk, where he saw Biden sign an executive order on environmental justice issues.

White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said Adams met with White House Chief of Staff Jeff Zients and other top officials, but did not provide details.

The whirlwind tour followed Adams’ sharp remarks in New York.

“The president and the White House have failed New York City on this issue,” Adams said at a news conference at City Hall on Wednesday.

“This is one of the biggest humanitarian crises this city has ever experienced. It will affect every service in the city,” he said. “Why isn’t every elected official in Washington, D.C. asking the national government, ‘Why are you doing this to New York?’
