ER doctor, 49, who ‘worked in crypto’ was texting his fiancé shortly before he disappeared
A Missouri ER doctor who spends most of his free time with cryptocurrency just got engaged days after finalizing his divorce and was planning to visit his kids when he bizarrely disappeared without a trace.
Dr. John Forsyth, 49, was last seen leaving Mercy Hospital in Cassville at around 7 a.m. on May 21 and had texted his new fiancée to tell her that he had finished his shift and that he would call her later that day would see.
But a little over a week has passed and no one has seen or heard from Forsyth, whose disappearance has left his family stunned. They say the first red flag was when the doctor unusually didn’t show up for his shift at the hospital that night.
A short time later, authorities found his black Infiniti sedan abandoned at the Cassville Aquatic Park in the Ozarks. The car keys were inside, along with Forsyth’s wallet, passport, and briefcase.
Further investigation revealed that two cell phones had been left in Forsyth’s luxury motor home in which he was staying outside the hospital. But there was no trace of the doctor.

Forsyth’s Infiniti was later found by police in the park in a “very hidden location, in a place where it seems cars are not supposed to go,” his brother Richard said.
Cassville police launched a 90-acre search for Forsyth last Tuesday but found no evidence of the doctor and have released limited details about the investigation.
Forsyth’s younger brother, Richard Forsyth, told it The everyday beast that it was clear something was wrong when he missed his 7 p.m. shift at the hospital. Forsyth never missed a service without telling someone in the 15 years he was there.
“He wouldn’t miss a shift even if his eyeballs were hanging out of their sockets,” Richard said. “It was an instant red flag.”
Forsyth, who is the father of seven children, was recently engaged just days after his divorce was finalized earlier this month, Richard explained. The newly engaged couple was texting the morning he disappeared.
“His fiancé texted him around 7 a.m. … and when he left, he texted her things like ‘Hey, my shift is over’ and ‘I’ll see you later,'” Richard said.
“And minutes later he stops responding to text messages and walks to his RV.”

Forsyth’s brother said security footage showed his Infiniti pulling into the water park parking lot, when a white SUV later arrived and parked near him
Forsyth’s car was found in an area partially hidden by a fence and bushes
“John’s RV was found open [at the hospital], which is very uncharacteristic,” he said. “His cell phones were in there, which is also very unusual because he always has his cell phone with him.”
Richard also told the outlet that security footage showed Forsyth’s Infiniti pulls into the water park parking lot when a white SUV arrives and parks next to him.
“It leaves a few minutes later and [John] is seen walking around for maybe 10 to 15 minutes afterwards,” Richard told police. “And then he walks away from his car.”
The Infiniti was later found by police in the park in a “very hidden location, in a place where it seems cars are not supposed to go,” Richard said.
Richard said the last time he saw his brother was at dinner last week where he “seemed really happy and excited” and saw no indication that Forsyth might be worried about anything.
“Nothing seemed odd,” he added. “Which makes John’s disappearance all the more strange.”

Forsyth’s family has created a Facebook page urging the public to share any tips or information that could bring them closer to finding him.
Forsyth’s son JR, 23, told The Daily Beast he first learned about the engagement two days after his father went missing.
JR last spoke to his father about a month ago, but said they were heart to heart and that Forsyth planned to see him and other family members in Utah this weekend.
He added that he knew his father had been “insanely busy” with work in the ER and the crypto company he ran with his brother Richard.
Relatives said Forsyth spent most of his downtime trying to determine how to make cryptocurrency useful to society — sometimes getting them into trouble, like a “hacker fight with an internet dude,” Richard admitted.
“We’ve made some enemies,” he added.

“My dad is a very logical person and I tend to be that way,” said JR. “And I can’t think of any logical conclusion why he would just disappear.”
