Episode 5 of Agatha All Along Just Confirmed Who Joe Locke’s Teen Really Is – And He’s Exactly Who I Thought He Was

Full spoilers ahead immediately Agatha all the time episode 5 and WandaVision.

Agatha all the time episode 5 has magically made its way to screens around the world – and, in a rare move for a Marvel TV show, one of its biggest secrets is revealed before the final episode.

The fifth entry of the Disney Plus series, titled ‘Darkest Hour, Wake Thy Power’, marks the midpoint of the WandaVision spin-off’s nine-episode series. And as if to celebrate, the identity of Joe Locke’s Teen was officially confirmed. Drum roll please: Teen is Billy Maximoff, aka the son of Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch, aka the super-powered individual known as Wiccan.

I know, I’m just as shocked as you are (that’s sarcasm, for anyone who honestly thinks I’m surprised). Since then Agatha all the timeThroughout the two-episode premiere, Teen’s true identity has been a hot topic of discussion in online circles, with many theorizing who he really is. I’ve been asking for the past three weeks who Joe Locke’s Teen is in Agatha all the timeI’m one of those who suggested from the beginning that Teen was actually Billy/Wiccan, so I’m glad I was proven right.

Okay, but how do we know Teen’s real name is Billy Maximoff? After all, his name isn’t explicitly mentioned in Episode 5, so there’s a chance many of us will be eating humble pie when it’s confirmed that Teen is actually someone else. Well, dear reader, I have enough evidence to support my claim.

The first piece of evidence – outside of anything teased in the Marvel Phase 5 series thus far – is when Agatha Harkness goads Teen by telling him he’s “just like your mother.” Now Agatha is over 400 years old, so she probably knew many mothers in her time. However, aside from her own mother Evanora, there is only one female parent she has interacted with in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) relatively recently. Yes, that will be Wanda, with the pair crossing paths – not to mention dueling – inside WandaVision‘ last few episodes. Reddit users LuckyLunayre And Fast_Moon also picked up on the first bar of Wanda’s theme coming out WandaVision plays when Agatha says that Teen is just like his mother too.

There’s even more evidence in the final moments of “Darkest Hour, Wake Thy Power.” After Agatha mocks an increasingly angry teenager (he’s already seething after Agatha seemingly kills Alice minutes earlier) he begins to summon his long-dormant magical abilities. Unlike his mother’s, Teen’s powers are colored blue, the shade corresponding to Wiccan’s abilities in the comics.

Not only that, the superpowers he uses in the final scene of episode 5 are also exact replicas of two of his abilities in Marvel’s source material. He uses his mind control abilities to have Lilia and Jennifer grab Agatha before mentally telling them to throw her into a mud-filled pool of quicksand. He then uses his telekinetic powers to send that pair through the air to the same pit.

That’s not all. As X/Twitter user Mattgriffinreal noted after the debut of episode 5 (see above), the ’80s-inspired clothing Teen is decked out in is eerily reminiscent of the Halloween costume a young Billy wears. WandaVision episode 6. The crown that adorns Teen’s head in the final seconds of episode 5 is a near copy of Wanda’s headpiece that she pulls out when she officially becomes the Scarlet Witch in WandaVision episode 9 too. Add to that the fact that in the hours after ‘Darkest Hour, Wake Thy Power’ was released, a Wiccan explainer article was placed front and center on the page. Marvel.comand all the pieces about Teen being a Wiccan have fallen into place.

Now, this could This might be Marvel’s way of trolling us (myself included), but I’d be baffled – even more than Teen’s real identity reveals – if Locke’s character is anyone other than Wiccan. There is simply too much evidence to suggest he will be anyone other than Billy.

Of course, if Teen is Billy/Wiccan, we desperately need answers to some of the big questions I asked earlier in my “Who is Teen?” part. Remember, Billy and his twin son Tommy were made up by Wanda WandaVisionso technically they don’t exist. Heck, they were even “killed off” (read: broken up) in the Marvel Phase 4 show’s finale after Wanda made peace with the grief she’s suffered since, well, her MCU introduction in Avengers: Age of Ultron.

If Teen Billy is/Wiccan, how did he survive/reborn after the events of? WandaVision? If he’s still alive, surely Tommy is too, right? Now that his powers have emerged, he will be able to save/resurrect Wanda after her apparent demise Doctor Strange 2? And what role will he play in the future of the MCU? I suspect we won’t get answers to any of these questions, except the first question at some point Agatha all the time. Don’t be surprised: next week’s chapter, i.e. Episode 6, is a flashback episode that reveals how Billy came to be – this time in real life – because that definitely won’t be me.
