According to the architects, Mountainview’s “scale and spatial drama” is balanced by the “warmth and comfort of a traditional country home.”

MBA judges described the breathtaking home as “something special” and “deserving” the grand prize: “This project shows off exceptional craftsmanship throughout,” they said.
“When creating the material palette for the house, we really wanted to draw from the natural environment of the house,” they said.
‘We incorporated wood, stone, steel and water to give warmth and texture to this monumental building. We were inspired by the colors of the gum trees and the texture and play of light and surface.’
MBA judges described the breathtaking home as “something special” and “deserve” the top prize.
‘This project is huge and includes the house, the stables, the Olympic horse track, the machine shed and an underground cellar for 10 cars. This project has exceptional craftsmanship throughout,” they said.
‘All bedrooms have their own bathroom and are decorated with nine different types of wallpaper. The cobblestones were imported and reused from real Belgian roads.’
