EPHRAIM HARDCASTLE: Prince Harry was not impressed Prince Andrew attended special service to mark one year since Queen Elizabeth II’s death, source says

Uncomfortable times at St George’s Chapel as Prince Harry turned up to pay his respects to his grandmother a year after her death.

A source says that during his visit, Harry discovered that a special service would take place a few hours later and would be attended by Prince Edward and Prince Andrew.

Apparently Harry was unimpressed by the confirmation that fellow exile Andrew, who he lashed out at in his autobiography Spare over the Virginia Giuffre entanglement, is being brought in from the cold.

His presence was not disclosed, but he is now a fixture at family events, having reluctantly accepted that he will not return to full royal life.

Harry, says the source, left St George’s ‘with his best frown’.

A forthcoming BBC2 documentary about Coco Chanel, depicted in her prime, reveals that she boycotted the 1969 Alan Jay Lerner/Andrew Previn Broadway musical about her life, starring ‘the old one’ – Katharine Hepburn ( 62 at the time) – instead of her choice – Audrey Hepburn (then 40 years old). The fastidious fashion designer, who died in 1971, was 85 years old at the time!

With the Euro 2024 qualifiers approaching, King Charles has yet to name a replacement for his late mother as patron of the English, Welsh and Scottish football associations, as well as the Army, Royal Navy and RAF FA.

However, he has become patron of the Australian Football League Europe and promotes Aussie Rules Football (which to the untrained eye appears to have no rules).

Labor veteran Diane Abbott, MP for Hackney North and Stoke Newington, eagerly tweets: ‘Mick Jagger and The Rolling Stones launch new album in Hackney itself. Where else?’

Does Diane really like the title of the band’s new album, Hackney Diamonds? It’s an old slang term from East London that refers to a broken car window after a robbery.

Dame Joan Collins clears her throat before her latest one-woman show, Behind The Shoulder Pads, and reveals her modest demands backstage.

“My dressing room rider is just coffee, water and a bottle of wine to share with my party after the show,” she says. Would that be a Methuselah or a Shalmanazar, Joanie?

Chris Tarrant recalls a booze-fuelled 2am Lord’s Taverners session at the Savoy with the late Terry Wogan, when both had early morning radio shows.

He said the only consolation when suffering from a hangover on Capital was that on BBC Radio 2 ‘a much older Irishman would be feeling worse’.

When he met Terry three weeks later, Tarrant asked how it had been the morning after. ‘Horrible. I got up around noon,” Tel replied. “I was like, ‘Twelve?’ said Tarrant, ‘You had to go on the radio at 6.30’ and he said, ‘Oh no, I didn’t tell you. I had a week off.’
