EPHRAIM HARDCASTLE: Is Prince William’s bearded appearance a poke in the eye for Harry?

Is Prince William’s beard an attack on Harry?

In Spare he made a big fuss about the ‘beard war’, claiming that William insisted on being clean-shaven for his wedding to Meghan.

“When I told him his opinion didn’t really matter because I had already gone to Grandma’s and gotten the green light, he flew into a rage,” Harry wrote.

“He raised his voice… at one point he ordered me, as the Heir speaking to the Reserve, to shave.”

Comedian David Mitchell discussed ‘Beardgate’ last week on Radio 4’s The Unbelievable Truth, in which he presented Harry’s story in dramatic fashion.

Did William, a Mitchell fan, laugh as he listened?

Keir, Barnier and the Queen

How will Keir Starmer deal with Michel Barnier, the former EU Brexit attacker and now Prime Minister of France?

Courtiers believe Barnier made a mistake when he made life difficult for Theresa May.

During his frequent trips to London, he never managed to get the ultimate diplomatic charmer: the Queen.

It was common knowledge that lunch with her could enchant the birds in the trees – and she could coo fluently in French.

Wouldn’t it be a great way to start a new chapter of the entente cordiale if Starmer were to honour Barnier with a visit to the king?

Prince Philip refused to watch Queen crying on film, Brandreth claims

Royal gossip Gyles Brandreth claims the late Duke of Edinburgh refused to watch Dame Helen Mirren’s Oscar-winning portrayal of the Queen, telling him: ‘Apparently the Queen cries in the film. The Queen doesn’t cry.’

But wasn’t HM a bit more positive about the film?

After its release in 2006, Dame Helen was unable to accept the Queen’s invitation to a private dinner due to her work.

Mirren has since concluded cheerfully: ‘I got the feeling that [the film] was seen and that it was appreciated.’

Norton’s girlfriend Miriam farts at Wembley

Dolly Parton fan Graham Norton once invited Miriam Margolyes to a meet-and-greet with Dolly after a show.

‘There was a long line and Miriam suddenly stood up… and shouted, “Break. The fart.”

‘There are no words to describe how loud that fart was. It rumbled and echoed through the corridor of Wembley Arena. No one in that row found it funny. No giggling.’

Why does he keep having such a vulgar person on his show?

Even the royal wax figures don’t match

When he visited Madame Tussauds to see how many royal wax figures remained, Craig Brown, author of A Voyage Around The Queen, discovered Harry “hanging by his fingers” at a discreet distance from William and Kate. Where was Meghan?

Craig says: ‘He was standing alone on the Awards Party grounds around the corner, a stone’s throw from Kim Kardashian and the Beckhams.’
