Located just an hour outside of San Diego, California, the small town of Campo is being sold by Nick Hernandez and Joseph Barela with brokers Top Gun CRE.

The city consists of 28 buildings, including a mix of residential and commercial buildings, and is in urgent need of renovation. By purchasing the building, interested parties can also determine which direction they want to take with the city center.

Many of the residential units have been renovated for aesthetics and comfort, including new roofing and plank floors.

Other vacant buildings offer opportunities for new businesses, such as gyms, laundromats, daycares or community centers.

In an interview with a local Fox affiliate KUSIBarela said he has had a number of interested parties, such as famed film producer (whose identity he did not reveal) and professional skateboarder Tony Hawk.

The city was originally built during World War II to house soldiers in the event of an invasion. Campo is currently home to 100 residents, all renting from one owner, who is willing to sell the property.

‘Border Patrol rents a business premises there. I also have 6 other commercial tenants. There are 28 residential units spread over 21 residential buildings,” says Barela.

“It’s quite nice, it’s a lot quieter than the city,” said Michael Hoffner, a local Campo resident.

‘You don’t know the hustle and bustle, you sleep peacefully and you can see the stars here.’

“I love it here, the environment and the nature,” says local Tony Martinez.
