Entire country to be hit by tropical rain bomb with a month’s worth of water to fall in just a few days
Rain is expected to fall across all Australian states over the next week, with some areas expecting a month’s worth of rain in just a few days.
According to Weatherzone, a tropical storm will bring showers to the country from the weekend until the end of next week.
Showers and thunderstorms will increase across northern Western Australia on Saturday and Sunday as moisture moves into a deepening area of low pressure.
“This wet and stormy weather will spread across central Australia on Monday, before a broad band of rain develops and will flood southeastern and eastern Australia,” a Weatherzone spokesperson said.
‘Some areas of Western Australia and the Northern Territory, which typically receive 20-50mm of rain in September, could receive 50-100mm from this event.’
Some of the falls are expected to occur next Thursday and Friday.
The Bureau of Meteorology is forecasting scattered showers across south-east Queensland this weekend as a low pressure system moves off the east coast on Saturday.
Meteorologist Miriam Bradbury said it would be a warm day in the east and north of the Sunshine State, with highs soaring well above 30 degrees Celsius, particularly around Townsville, Weipa, Mt Isa and Cairns.

Temperatures inland will be slightly below average, she said.
In New South Wales, ‘local’ frost is expected across parts of the south-western slopes, with isolated showers also possible in areas such as Albury.
“Sydney is set for a mostly sunny day… highs of 25 degrees tomorrow,” Bradbury said.
‘Down in Canberra – 16C and partly cloudy.’
A new cold front is expected to bring persistent showers and gusty winds to the south-east of the country, particularly on Victoria’s south coast.
Showers are expected in Melbourne, with maximum temperatures of 17°C.
Average temperatures for Saturday across the country
The agency predicts showers will fall in Adelaide this weekend, with temperatures of 17°C and 19°C on Saturday and Sunday respectively.
The decline is expected to slow on Sunday.
Ms Bradbury said storms in northern and inland Western Australia would continue through the weekend, but it would be drier in the more southerly districts.
It will remain sunny in Perth with maximum temperatures not exceeding 25 degrees on Saturday.
Ms Bradbury said the Northern Territory is likely to see showers and thunderstorms in the western parts of the Top End, which could “reach the Kimberley, Pilbara and northern inland Western Australia” as pressure increases.
The heavy showers come after the Tasmanian ski resort of Mt Mawson, an hour and a half’s drive from Hobart, was blanketed in snow in recent days.
Peter Davis of the Southern Tasmanian Ski Association announced on Thursday that the ski lift will continue to operate over the weekend after an estimated 20cm of snow fell overnight.
