A popular English professor at Wake Forest University in North Carolina has been sent on leave after posting nude photos of himself masturbating online.
Dr. Omaar Hena, whose wife works as a nurse, had been posting the images for the past seven years, faculty members told the student newspaper. Old gold and black.
Rumors of the footage began circulating on campus social media app Fizz in early February.
In mid-February, Hena, who has been teaching at the university for 15 years, was granted leave.
Neither the university nor Hena has commented on the decision.

Hena shared graphic photos and videos on Reddit and milder suggestive content on Instagram
After the campus rumors spread, many students started following Hena on Instagram, where some of the explicit images were posted.
Hena then struck up conversations with a few students.
A sophomore received a message from Hena at 6:40 p.m. on Feb. 10, in which the professor said, “Thanks so much for following!” with a purple heart emoji.
The student replied, “Of course!”
Hena replied, “I like your strange energy. And I’ve been a fan of wake radio people forever’ with purple heart, sparkles and rainbow emojis.
Hena and the student continued to talk, and Hena told the student that he would be willing to “meet up for a drink” with her and “all the people” in Wake Radio.
One of Hena’s Instagram photos shows him dressed as Aladdin in a classroom, with the caption, “I can show you the world.”
A commenter @janescluesman wrote, “Has anyone asked for a ride on the magic carpet yet?”
He replied, “OMFGG I wish!!!”
Hena’s Reddit posts were significantly more explicit, with video of him naked seen by the student newspaper.
Old Gold & Black reported that he was filmed stroking his genitals while looking into the camera.
Photos include suggestive captions such as “want to drive?” or “dirty dirty boy.”
The university policy states, “The faculty is expected to conduct itself in a manner consistent with generally accepted standards of conduct and conduct for the profession.”
Wake Forest University is a private university in Winston-Salem, founded in 1834
Hena is pictured in London. He has not commented on his leave and his future is uncertain
Some students expressed anger at Hena’s absence.
One user posted: ‘F*** y’all for firing Omaar Hena.
“Even if he posts horrific things, it’s his choice, and he was by far the best professor I’ve had at this school.”
Another user wrote, “Let’s all go on strike to get Omaar Hena back.”
In a February 2023 post on Rate My Professors, dug up by Old Gold & Black, a student gave Hena a maximum rating of five and commented, “His online persona is inappropriate, but he’s a great professor with great insight into the subjects which he teaches.’
Others disagreed.
A student on Rate My Professors gave Hena the lowest possible score, noting “@omaarcomin Very inappropriate Instagram.”
