Jack Grealish dedicated his goal for England against Iran to a young Manchester City fan on Monday – before FaceTimed him 24 hours later to discuss it.

The Three Lions got past Iran by six to get off target in style at the Qatar World Cup, and Grealish was one of the goalscorers of the day.

After coming off the bench, the City midfielder scored England’s sixth and final goal as Newcastle’s Callum Wilson put him in front of an empty net, allowing him to easily sweep the ball home.

The strike was Grealish’s first at a major international tournament, although despite its personal significance he did not forget to pay tribute to 11-year-old City supporter Finlay Fisher, who suffers from cerebral palsy.

Finlay wrote a letter to Grealish after discovering his sister, Hollie, has the same condition, meaning he later got the chance to meet him in person as part of the Premier League’s ‘Fan Mail’ initiative.

During their meeting, the youngster urged his idol to have a special celebration when he next found the back of the net, stretching his arms wide and wiggling after unsuccessfully asking him to do the worm.

Grealish recalled having to pay tribute to him after scoring against Iran when he performed the celebration now known as ‘The Finlay’ in a heartwarming moment that quickly went viral on social media.

And if that wasn’t enough, Finlay received a FaceTime from the man himself the next day.

“I liked your goal,” Finlay told Grealish, who replied, “You liked the party more!”

Grealish then joked that Finlay was now “famous” having been “everywhere” for the past 24 hours, before the youngster said, “I thought you forgot.”

The England star took to Instagram after performing at the celebration on Monday and captioned it, “For you Finlay,” along with a photo of the moment.
