New Sydney Roosters recruit Dominic Young is expected to make a full recovery after being taken to hospital in Britain with a sinus infection that spread to his brain.
Young flew back to England earlier this month to take part in the three-Test series against Tonga when he complained of a headache.
The towering winger initially thought the problem would correct itself, until he became sensitive to light and had difficulty opening and closing his eyes.
Young missed England’s 22-18 win over Tonga on Sunday but is responding well to antibiotics, according to his manager Michael Cincotta.
“I talked to Dom yesterday and he says he’s going in the right direction and his eyes are getting back to normal,” Cincotta said.

‘After speaking to Dom I am confident he will make a full recovery.’
Young has been kept in hospital as a precaution and is not expected to feature in the remaining two Tests against Tonga and is likely to return to Australia ahead of his first season with Bondi.
“We will have a look at him earlier this week but it is doubtful (he will play in this series),” England coach Shaun Wane said after the first Test in St Helens.
Young scored 25 tries for Newcastle last year and will compete with Joseph Suaalii and Daniel Tupou for a wing spot for Trent Robinson’s side.
The Roosters will kick off the 2024 season in Las Vegas in March next year and the 22-year-old is expected to feature in the huge showpiece event.
“He’s not 100 per cent over it yet – it was quite serious – but he’s on the mend and after a short break he’ll be right to rejoin the Roosters,” Cincotta added.
‘It’s a blow because he was really looking forward to playing for England against Tonga. He will now have to wait for his next opportunity.’
Young, who has signed for the Roosters, should be available for the start of the 2024 season
