England fans laud Three Lions interim boss Lee Carsley for picking younger stars in his first squad selection – as they call on the FA to ‘give the ex-U21 coach the job permanently’

England fans have praised Three Lions interim manager Lee Carsley for including a number of younger stars in his squad for his team’s upcoming international matches.

Some fans even called on the FA to ‘permanently appoint the former under-21 manager’, with former England and Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand also praising his decision to call up midfielder Angel Gomes from Lille.

Carsley has also called up Tino Livramento, Morgan Gibbs-White and Noni Madueke, but some fans have raised eyebrows at the absence of Crystal Palace star Adam Wharton – who was included in Gareth Southgate’s squad for Euro 2024.

Harry Maguire was also recalled to the squad after missing the tournament in Germany due to injury. Jack Grealish was also recalled, but there was no place for Ivan Toney or Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale.

Ben White was also missing from Lee Carsley’s squad, once again stating he was unavailable for selection, while Luke Shaw and Jude Bellingham are injured.

Other fans online were also excited to see Gomes’ name on the squad, as the midfielder is now in contention to make his debut for the England men’s national team during their Nations League clash against Ireland in Dublin on September 7. England will then
