England cricketers are stopped on their way to Lord’s by Just Stop Oil protesters before the first day of the pre-Ashes Test against Ireland

The England cricket team has been delayed by Just Stop Oil protesters on their way to Lord’s for the Test match against Ireland.

England’s Jonny Bairstow shared an Instagram photo of the orange-clad protesters being addressed by police as they blocked a road in London.

The wicketkeeper batsman captioned the photo: “If we’re a little late it’s not our fault.”

England will play Ireland in a one-off Test match starting on Thursday, which will serve as a key prelude to the upcoming Ashes series with Australia.

The team bus was delayed for about five minutes before reaching Lord’s.
