England cricket star Matt Dunn is mourning the loss of his two-year-old daughter Florence, who died of a severe form of epilepsy.
Tributes have been paid to Dunn and his family, after the Surrey bowler announced the news in a post on his Instagram Story on Wednesday.
Sharing a photo of her daughter, Dunn said she would “be forever” in her heart.
Florence suffered from a rare and severe form of epilepsy known as Dravet Syndrome, which the NHS describes as a “rare, devastating and life-limiting genetic neurological condition”.
While a separate post in an account dedicated to Florence read: ‘Our beautiful girl gained her angel wings and was lost to SUDEP (sudden unexpected death in epilepsy).

A statement from the county read: “Everyone in Surrey is very saddened by the news of the passing of Matt Dunn’s daughter, Florence.
“Our thoughts are with Matt and his wife Jessica, who bravely managed Florence’s Dravet syndrome, a severe form of epilepsy.”
Surrey cricket manager Alec Stewart also offered his condolences to the family, saying: “We are absolutely devastated by the news of Florence’s passing and our best wishes go out to the entire Dunn family.” We will give Matt and Jessica all the support we can.’

Dunn has played for his home county of Surrey since 2010. He has also represented England as part of a development team that faced Sri Lanka in 2011.
