Take a bow! Piers Morgan hails the ‘greatest crowd catch in history’ as fan nonchalantly takes a one-handed stunner with a pint in hand while watching England Test match

  • One spectator was caught on camera making a sensational one-handed catch
  • Mark Wood retrieved a ball from the stands and the man left everyone amazed
  • Even England coach Paul Collingwood was visibly impressed by the effort

A nonchalant England supporter made a stunning one-handed catch during the first Test match against the West Indies, much to the amazement of Piers Morgan.

The man, who was holding four stacked beer glasses and enjoying the sunshine at Old Trafford, extended his arm after Mark Wood threw a ball into the stands.

To everyone’s surprise, the ball then fell effortlessly into his hands, much to the amazement of those around him and even England coach Paul Collingwood.

As the cameras focused on him, the spectators greeted him coolly.

Collingwood couldn’t help but grin after watching the replays and was caught making the same imaginary pint and ball gestures to imitate his heroics.

Also in awe, Morgan said: ‘The greatest catch in the history of cricket fans. Take a bow, sir!’

Wood had sent his strike to deep mid-wicket in an attempt to extend the home side’s lead, with the ball flying through the air at high speed.

The spectator would have been forgiven if he had made a mistake, especially after a day of drinking, but instead he went viral on social media after grabbing his loot.

England Cricket’s official X account also posted the footage, highlighting his achievements, including an “incredible catch” where he managed not to spill a drop.

The hysteria in the audience continued long after the man modestly gave a thumbs up and wiped small drops of beer from his jacket.

Someone nearby congratulated him and kindly placed a hand on his head.
