England suffers MAJOR injury scare with captain Harry Kane in doubt for Friday’s World Cup clash against USA due to ankle injury… with striker to undergo scan after left in agony by Iran in 6-2 defeat
England have been frightened by a World Cup injury that captain Harry Kane will have to undergo an ankle scan.
The Three Lions captain was in a lot of pain after Morteza Pouraliganji’s tackle in the second half of Monday’s win against Iran.
Kane remained on the field until the 75th minute when he was replaced by Callum Wilson.

The 29-year-old was involved in an indoor recovery session on Tuesday, a development seen as positive news.
But Kane will be further examined on the joint ahead of Friday’s game against the US.
It now remains to be seen whether he will train with the rest of his teammates today, although the FA downplayed the injury scare yesterday.
Kane left the Khalifa stadium on Monday evening with a light ankle band and a slight limp.

After the game, head coach Gareth Southgate said, “I think Harry is doing well. It looked like a bad tackle, but he continued in the game. We took him off because we felt it was a moment in the game when we could do that.’
But England now faces an anxious wait to discover the extent of Kane’s ankle problem.
