At least five people have been injured in a stabbing attack in Sydney’s south.

A major police operation is currently underway in Engadin.

A police officer and several bystanders suffered stab wounds during the incident on Old Bush Road.

One person suffered a cardiac arrest and a 40-year-old woman was taken to St. George Hospital with multiple stab wounds.

The alleged stabber is one of the people being treated at the scene by ambulance personnel.
