Footage has surfaced of a mangled Ons Jabeur collapsing in the players’ tunnel after its upset loss at the Australian Open on Thursday night.

The 28-year-old second seed committed an uncharacteristic 50 unforced errors, losing in three sets to Marketa Vondrousova of the Czech Republic.

Moments after realizing the 2022 Wimbledon and US Open finalist was out of the tournament, Jabeur was in a crouching crouch when the missed opportunity at Rod Laver Arena came true.

Jabeur was not at his best, committing 18 unforced errors in the first set alone.

She composed herself to win a tight second set 7-5, but lost her pace in the third.

The result means the Grand Slam drought continues for the Tunisian, whose best result at Melbourne Park is a quarterfinal in 2020.

Ons Jabeur is yet to win a Grand Slam, and many tennis experts felt she was poised to end her Melbourne Park drought.

The 28-year-old second seed committed 50 unforced errors, losing in three sets to Marketa Vondrousova of the Czech Republic.

The exciting competition ended shortly after 1am AEDT in Melbourne, which did not sit well with Vondrousova.

“I think also for the body, I don’t think it’s healthy to play at 1 am,” he said.

‘Also, if you’re playing three sets, it’s crazy.

In this level, you have to be prepared for every point. I don’t think it’s very healthy, but it’s a night session, so you have to prepare for it.’

Marketa Vondrousova of the Czech Republic admitted finishing after 1am against Ons Jabeur was “crazy”

He added that it had been a “very crazy” week of weather and waiting in the player area amid ongoing delays and scheduling drama.

“I was tired too, but I think she was too,” Vondrousova said.

Runner-up to Ash Barty at the 2019 French Open, Vondrousova will face fellow Czech star Linda Fruhvirtova in the third round.

The 17-year-old Fruhvirtova advanced with a straight-set win over Australian wildcard Kimberly Birrell.
