“We know Dave very well on Morning Live and the reason you’re spending time with him is because you’ve had some bad news, right?”

Kim replied, “Yes, Morning Live followed his father’s cancer diagnosis, which was about two and a half years ago. I think the latest scan results have now unfortunately shown that there are now more cancerous deposits further down his spine. .

‘They are doing more scans to see if there is any more bone in his bones, but unfortunately they cannot offer him chemotherapy.’

“So they advised us to spend a lot of time with him and make a lot of memories.

“So that’s what we did. We went to a light trail on Halloween and he just enjoyed spending time with his family.”

Gethin pointed out that Dave always watches the show from home and announced: “We’re sending him all our love, and hopefully we’ll see him very soon.”

On Father’s Day, Kim surprised Dave with an ice cream tattoo tribute on her forearm, as he has had an ‘obsession’ with sweet treats since his cancer diagnosis.

The former Coronation Street star shared the sweet moment she unveiled the artwork to her father for the first time.

She wrote: ‘So…..I got a new tattoo for my dad!!! Since his terminal cancer diagnosis, he has been obsessed with ice cream! He literally has one every day!

“So I got him an ice cream on the inside of my forearm to remind me of my wonderful father. Every time I look at it!! He’s the best ever! I love you, daddy.’

Kym shared a gallery of selfies on her social media to mark Father’s Day and said her dad ‘inspires her every day’.

She wrote: ‘Happy Father’s Day to the legend that is my father. Dad, you inspire me every day. Your power in life has always been immeasurable.

‘Everything life has to offer you, you tackle it with a smile on your face and always a joke at hand. You are the best father anyone could ask for and I am so glad you are mine.

‘Here’s to you, Papa Bear! Always your shadow. I love you always and forever.”

The Waterloo Road star revealed her father had been in 2021, he was diagnosed with incurable prostate cancer after a PSA test, a blood test that helps detect the disease.

She said: ‘I think a normal level is between two and four and Dad’s was well over a thousand, so they knew something was wrong.’

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, Dave initially postponed a check-up with his GP, despite having pain and other symptoms.

Kym continued: ‘Dad knew how busy the NHS was with the pandemic and didn’t want to be a burden, so postponed going to the doctors.

‘Unfortunately, by the time he left and the cancer was discovered, it had spread to his leg, ribs, pelvis and spine.

‘The diagnosis was devastating for all of us, but he has since received the best possible care.’
