EXCLUSIVE

A young model has tragically died after a friend revealed she tried to call him on New Year’s Eve but he couldn’t answer her call.

Emily ‘Emmy’ Finberg, 30, from Ballina in the Northern Rivers region of NSW, died suddenly on January 2.

A devastated friend said she tried to contact him a few days earlier but he couldn’t answer her call.

‘[She] Called me on NYE but I’m at sea so can only text so I sent RUOK,” he posted online.

Another friend said, “I wish she would have called or come over. She was a good horse girl and had a good laugh. Very sad.’

Relatives have been told by relatives to consider her death an accident.

Throughout her life, Ms. Finberg served in various roles, including as a model and farmhand, working with horses, which she loved since she was a child.

At the time of her death she was working as a truck driver for cement company Boral and was a member of the Mullumbimby Pony Club.

As the community comes to terms with the tragedy, tributes are flowing online to Ms Finberg, who is remembered as “fierce, funny and kind”.

A relative said Mrs. Finberg’s life changed when she was about 12 and got a horse named Flash, which she absolutely adored.

“Emmy’s responsibility and care for Flash was unwavering, and the work of feeding, training and caring for Flash was done no matter the weather, no matter how 4 a.m. started,” she said.

“As an adult, Emmy brought the same perseverance and work ethic to every job (usually two or three jobs at a time). I couldn’t be more proud of her perseverance and perseverance.”

Friend Jasmin Miller said the world is now “undeniably less bright without her radiant presence.”

“She was a force of nature: hilarious, vibrant and endlessly kind,” she said.

“Emmy made everyone feel welcome and loved, lighting up every room with her infectious energy and laughter.

‘There was no one like Emmy. There will never be anyone like Emmy.

“Her love for animals, especially her beloved fur baby, Chopper, was unparalleled. She cherished life, friends, family and all creatures great and small.

“We are heartbroken.”

Her aunt Aviva Finberg described her as “the boldest, bravest person I will ever know” and the “most feminine truck driver to ever grace this earth.”

“We recently spent the weekend together and she hugged me and held me so tight for so long,” Ms. Finberg wrote online.

‘I will always remember her [saying] ‘Can I have another Amaretto Sour please’ at Capiche in Ballina. So ladylike. As if we were on the French Riviera.

“She always said, ‘I love you forever.’ Well, this is forever, my sweet girl.”

Mrs. Miller has one GoFundMe to raise money to cover the costs of her funeral.

“As we navigate this difficult time, we’re reaching out to Emmy’s friends and everyone whose lives she touched to help us give her the send-off she deserves, in true EMMY fashion!” she said.

“Every contribution, large or small, will go towards celebrating Emmy’s beautiful life.

‘Thank you for your kindness, love and support. Let’s honor Emmy’s memory in the way she deserves.”
