Emmy Awards nominations 2024: The Bear and Shogun lead the list as Jennifer Aniston, Sofia Vergara and Selena Gomez also pick up nods
The nominations for the 76th annual Primetime Emmy Awards were announced Wednesday morning.
Emmy-winning actors Sheryl Lee Ralph and Tony Hale announced the nominees during a live press conference from Disney’s El Capitan Theatre in Hollywood.
The Bear set a new record for nominations in a single year in the Comedy category with 23 (previously held by 30 Rock with 22 nominations in 2009), and Shōgun leads the Drama category this year with 25 nominations.
Nominations for Outstanding Drama Series went to The Crown, Fallout, The Gilded Age, The Morning Show, Mr & Mrs Smith, Shogun, Slow Horses and 3 Body Problem.
Nominations for Best Comedy Series went to Abbott Elementary, The Bear, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Hacks, Only Murders In The Building, Palm Royale, Reservation Dogs and What We Do In The Shadows.
Baby Reindeer, Fargo, Lessons In Chemistry, Ripley and True Detective were nominated for Best Limited Anthology Series or Movie.
The Emmy Awards will air live on ABC on Sunday, September 15, from the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles. A host has not yet been announced.

For Best Actress in a Limited Anthology Series or Movie, the nominations were: Jodie Foster for True Detective, Brie Larson for Lessons in Chemistry, Juno Temple for Fargo, Sofia Vergara for Griselda and Naomi Watts for Feud.
The award for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Short Series, Anthology Series or Movie went to Matt Bomer for Fellow Travelers, Richard Gadd for Baby Reindeer, Jon Hamm for Fargo, Tom Hollander for Feud and Andrew Scott for Ripley.
The award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series went to Jennifer Aniston for The Morning Show, Carrie Coon for The Gilded Age, Maya Erskine for Mr & Mrs Smith, Ana Sawai for Shogun, Imelda Stanton for The Crown and Reese Witherspoon for The Morning Show.
Nominations for Outstanding Casting for a Reality Program went to The Amazing Race, The Golden Bachelor, Love On The Spectrum, RuPaul’s Drag Race and Squid Game: The Challenge.
The first nomination was for Outstanding Talk Series. These were The Daily Show, Jimmy Kimmel Live, Late Night With Seth Meyers, The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.
The nominees for Outstanding Reality Competition Program went to Amazing Race, RuPaul Drag Race, Top Chef, The Traitors and The Voice.
Emmy nominations host Ralph was surprised by Cris Abrego at the end of the series the announcement ceremony with her third nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a comedy series for Abbott Elementary.
This year’s ceremony will take place less than a year after the show’s 75th edition.

The performance took place last January, after its planned September 2023 date was postponed due to writers’ and actors’ strikes.
Abrego gave the first introduction and said the nominated shows would air from June 2023 to May 2024.
He then introduced Ralph and Hale to the stage.
As previously announced, Emmy Award winners Jesse Collins and Dionne Harmon, along with Emmy nominee Jeannae Rouzan-Clay of Jesse Collins Entertainment, will return as executive producers of the 76th Annual Emmy Awards. This marks their second consecutive year as producers of television’s biggest night.
