Emmerdale fans sink claws into soap for ‘ripping off’ Coronation Street with heartbreaking storyline – and spot something seriously strange in The Woolpack

Emmerdale fans are unhappy with the soap’s latest heartbreaking storyline, accusing it of copying sister soap Coronation Street.

Avid fans of the iconic soap opera will no doubt be aware of the storyline revolving around Ella Forster (Paula Lane) and her shocking pregnancy.

The complex character first arrived in the village earlier this year, carrying with her a huge secret about her past.

It was later revealed that she was previously known as Ruth and that she had committed murder at the age of 11. She was imprisoned and then moved to another location in Britain.

When she moved to the Yorkshire Dales, the character fell into a relationship with GP Liam Cavanagh (Jonny McPherson), but kept her complicated history a secret.

In a recent Corrie story, Toyah Battersby (Georgia Taylor) thought she was pregnant, before unfortunately finding out she had ovarian cancer instead.

When Liam found out, he broke things off with her because it became too much for him, especially after his own daughter Leanna (Mimi Slinger) was murdered.

The revelation that came to light was that Ella left her life in Emmerdale behind in June, but she has recently returned to the screen after a car crash.

However, a surprise twist in the film revealed that Ella was pregnant with Liam’s baby. She broke the news to her friend Mandy Dingle (Lisa Riley).

The situation took an even sadder turn when the character received the disturbing news during the soap opera on Tuesday that she wasn’t pregnant after all.

In disturbing scenes, the character is told she has had an anembryonic pregnancy, also known as a miscarriage or miscarriage.

While some fans were captivated by the storyline, others were unimpressed, drawing comparisons to plot points from rival shows such as Coronation Street and EastEnders.

In EastEnders, Natalie Cassidy’s character Sonia Fowler discovered she had a deformed egg, after a series of IVF treatments and initial problems conceiving.

Meanwhile, in a recent Corrie story, Toyah Battersby (Georgia Taylor) was under the impression she was pregnant until she sadly discovered she had ovarian cancer.

Avid fans of all three soap operas took to social media to compare storylines and accused writers of being unable to come up with ‘original ideas’

Fans of all three soap operas took to social media to compare storylines and accused the writers of not coming up with “original ideas.”

Viewers on X (formerly Twitter) sparked a conversation by saying:

‘They’re making a Toyah for Ella #Emmerdale.’

‘Can’t these soap writers come up with original ideas? First Sonia in #Eastenders has a blighted egg. Now Ella in #Emmerdale has a blighted egg.’

In a Reddit thread, another user noted: ‘The character is pregnant but when she goes to the hospital there is no baby. Seems like a familiar story for some reason, Toyah Corrie.’

‘So (spoiler) Toyah in #corrie and Ella in #Emmerdale have the same storyline.’

‘Ella likes Toyah in #Corrie, she also thought she was pregnant #Emmerdale.’

‘Damn #Cancer Toyah #Corrie #Emmerdale Ella and they both run the same time.’

‘If Ella isn’t pregnant, will this be a cancer story like Toyah’s #Emmerdale?’

Meanwhile, a lighter conversation also took place on social media following Tuesday’s dramatic episode of the soap, surrounding Caleb Milligan (William Ash)

The character was in the process of eating what appeared to be a whole chicken, presented on a cutting board

Fans found the odd detail amusing and looked to X to confirm they weren’t the only ones who had noticed it

Meanwhile, a lighter conversation also arose on social media after Tuesday’s dramatic episode of the soap opera.

Caleb Milligan (William Ash) and his wife Ruby Fox-Milligan (Beth Cordingly) had gone to The Woolpack for a quiet dinner after receiving the bad news that a fire had broken out at his car dealership while he was on holiday.

But while the pair wondered who could be behind the suspected arson, viewers’ attention was drawn to something else entirely: the food on Caleb’s plate.

The character was in the process of devouring what appeared to be a whole chicken, presented on a cutting board.

Fans found the odd detail amusing and took to X to confirm they weren’t the only ones who noticed it. They wrote:

‘Caleb orders a whole chicken for himself #Emmerdale.’

“That was a*** episode, except for Caleb’s chicken #emmerdale.”

‘Does Caleb eat a whole chicken? #Emmerdale.’

‘I hope the “Caleb eats whole chicken for lunch” scene wins something at the National Soap Awards – best storyline @emmerdale has done in a long time! Burger tomorrow…?!’

‘Eat Caleb a chicken, a whole chicken #Emmerdale.’

‘So The Woolpack must be doing well if they can afford to serve whole chickens as a proper dish for one #emmerdale.’
