Emmerdale fans were concerned for Gabby Thomas on Monday’s episode after her new flame introduced Nicky.
Viewers have gained quite a bit of insight into Gabby’s (Rosie Bentham) relationship with nanny Nicky (Lewis Cope) following their frequent passionate kisses while lying flat on Kim Tate’s (Claire King) couch.
Gabby was speechless this week when Lewis got down on one knee and proposed to her in front of Bernice Blackstock (Samantha Giles), Laurel Thomas (Charlotte Bellamy) and Kim.
She accepted and the pair embraced and shared a kiss despite Kim’s distaste for the situation, with Kim having hired Nicky to take care of the children living on her land stack.
But it wasn’t just Kim who was unimpressed with Nicky popping the question, viewers are convinced the proposal is part of a bigger plan to get either Gabby or Kim’s money.
Romance? Emmerdale fans were concerned for Gabby Thomas on Monday’s episode after her new flame introduced Nicky
Quick relationship: Viewers have gained quite a bit of insight into Gabby’s (Rosie Bentham, pictured) relationship with Nicky (Lewis Cope) following their frequent passionate kisses
One person took to Twitter to express his fear of Gabby, writing, “Just by watching this clip, of Nikki proposing to Gabby, you know Nikki is up to something. You only met her a few months ago. And Gabby is well smitten. Something is wrong. #emmerdale.’
Another shared, “He must be after Gabby’s (or Kim’s) money.”
Another person posted, “Nicky must have a reason to propose to Gabby. Of course he has to move things around for part of a #emmerdale plan.”
I still don’t trust Nicky! He and Gabby have been together for 5 minutes and he is already introducing her to #Emmerdale.
While someone else shared, “Nicky is about to become a villain manipulating Gabby to the limit #Emmerdale.”
Another viewer tweeted, “Propose? seriously… they haven’t known each other that long.’
And someone else wrote, “They haven’t even been on a date yet. #ridiculous #emmerdale.’
Someone else shared, “Nicky, claiming that Gabby means the world to him. They know nothing about each other except how to take each other’s clothes off #Emmerdale.”
Miffed: She accepted and the pair hugged and shared a kiss despite Kim’s disgust at the situation, with Kim having hired Nicky to look after the kids who live on her land stack (Kim, played by Claire King, pictured left)
In earlier episodes, Nicky confessed that he had feelings for Gabby, but insisted they couldn’t be together as it could jeopardize his job.
He admitted that despite their chemistry, he couldn’t have sex with the young mother.
Nicky first caught Gabby’s attention when he arrived in the village as a nanny for Clemmie and Lucas, but soon found that his services were no longer needed when Dawn (Olivia Bromley) decided she didn’t want to work for Kim.
Fortunately, Gabby reassured Nicky that she still needed someone to take care of her son Thomas, and Kim agreed, meaning he could stay at Home Farm.
After learning she had been given the deputy job by Kim, a delighted Gabby decided to celebrate with Nicky over champagne.
However, when she leaned in for a kiss, he quickly backed off and admitted that he wasn’t into her that much.
Talking about the story, actor Lewis told earlier Subway: ‘Maybe it could be a problem at Home Farm if they get together. Nicky kind of concentrates on his work and thinks – we shouldn’t be doing this and pulls away from it.
Co-star Rosie agrees that the pair are a good match, adding, “They both like each other, that’s very obvious.
master plan? It wasn’t just Kim who was unimpressed with Nicky who popped the question, viewers are convinced the proposal is part of a bigger plan to get either Gabby or Kim’s money
“I think the audience will push them to be honest because they see two young people falling for each other, it’s very clear what they want from that. But whether they get it or not, who knows?’
However, Lewis has already warned that Nicky has a dark side that viewers may get to see in the coming weeks.
He said last month: “At the moment he is a lovely person and there is nothing else to say about it, but he is actually too good to be true.”
Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7.30pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
