Emmerdale fans have been wondering why Mary Goskirk refused to call the police after she was assaulted and conned by conwoman Faye on Tuesday’s episode.
After initially refusing to listen to Suzy Merton’s concerns about Faye, a lovesick Mary was left devastated when she finally learned the shocking truth about her friend.
While questioning Faye about the charity money and her insistence that the money be transferred to her own account, the penny finally fell for Mary, while Faye then sinisterly revealed her true nature.
A scuffle ensued between the two women, resulting in Mary (Louise Jameson) being knocked unconscious by Faye (Jane Gurnett), who then fled with her money and camera.
But after being treated by a paramedic, Mary said she didn’t want the police involved, forcing viewers to stay home to question her actions as they called for “wiping the smile” off Faye’s face.

Several Emmerdale fans took to Twitter to voice their thoughts, expressing their wish for Faye to be caught, with many urging Mary to get the law involved.
‘Get the police too!!! Go after miss dodgy before she’s too far away!!!!’ one noticed.
While another tweeted: ‘No cops! Mary, you need to protect other vulnerable people from con artist Faye.”
“Why don’t you call the police, I’d be furious and want her in jail…” asked a third spectator.
Oh come on don’t even call the police. I assume Mary will refund everyone who donated money. It doesn’t really work that way,” a fourth sighed.
A fifth person raged, “Call the goddamned bank and the police and try and get the money back!”

Mary was found unconscious on the floor, my Rhona’s ex-husband Gus, who then called an ambulance.
While being treated for her injuries by a paramedic, Mary recalled the horrific incident to a concerned Suzy, who had called after seeing the ambulance, prompting the paramedic to ask if they should call the police.
To which Mary insisted, “No police. It’s my fault, it’s all my fault!’

Later, when her daughter Rhona rushed home after getting a message from Suzy, an upset Mary broke down when he lamented how stupid she had been.
The former journalist sobbed that she felt “a joke” and “vulnerable” as she struggled to understand how she fell for all of Faye’s lies.
It remains to be seen if Mary will take action and call the police to bring Faye to justice.
