After Chloe and Mack were told that Reuben’s condition was improving, Charity secretly saw them adoring the little one when she heard him say he’s the baby’s father.

Charity later confronted Mack, prompting him to finally confess that Reuben is his child, as Charity walked away from him in a dramatic cliffhanger.

The drama started on Thursday’s episode when Mack continued to sulk, with Charity urging him to have crisis talks with her as she was desperate for the truth.

Meanwhile, Chloe was devastatingly told that Reuben still couldn’t be taken off the ventilator and couldn’t breathe on his own, risking brain damage.

The nurse warned her that it could be a difficult day for her as Reuben was taken in for another scan out of fear for his life.

Charity then asked Mack to tell her what was going on and why he had sulked and not come home, asking him if it was about losing their own baby.

She asked him, ‘What’s the matter? Is this about Ruben?’

“I just saw Amy, and she looked worried sick, it’s a sick baby… and I thought, it’s not that long ago we were both in the hospital and lost our baby,” she added please.

Charity then asked him to have “crisis talks” with her to resolve their issues, but Mack did not show up, leaving her furious.

She bellowed, “Something isn’t right here! Something’s up and I’m not stopping until I know what it is!’

In other scenes, Nate Robinson told Mack to go visit Reuben in case he regretted not spending time with his ailing son for the rest of his life.

Mack arrived at the hospital and begged Chloe to let him see Reuben, but unbeknownst to him, Charity also planned to visit the hospital with Chloe’s sister Amy.

Upon arriving to see Reuben, Mack told Chloe, “You look shattered.” If you’re experiencing even half of what I am… what I mean is, I can’t stop thinking about Reuben, I can’t sleep, I can’t function, I need to see him.”

Chloe said, “They can’t take him off the ventilator and they keep pumping his body full of antibiotics. He’s so small, I keep looking at him and holding my breath and wanting him to continue. I can’t get rid of him.”

But Mack insisted, “You’re not going to do that, that won’t happen.”

Chloe then said to him, “You can stay here with me if you like while we wait for news…I don’t think I can bear to run away again.”

Mack then said he would stay with her and wait for the results, adding, “I know it’s a cliche but he’s my flesh and blood, I never thought I’d feel this way, I didn’t think I wanted it. ‘

Mack and Chloe were left relieved when the nurse told them that the little one was finally doing better and that they could reduce his reliance on the ventilator.

In mirroring scenes, Amy and Charity were also seen arriving at the hospital, with Charity running off to go to the bathroom before heading off to surprise Chloe.

However, Charity eventually saw Mack and Chloe visiting Reuben, and the truth was finally revealed when she overheard him talking to the baby.

As Charity watched, Mack said to Reuben, “Well you sure know how to scare your father Reuben, you’re gorgeous and you’ve been such a brave boy, that must be the Scotsman in you.”

Charity was left in tears and fled the hospital, urging Chloe’s sister Amy Wyatt (Natalie Ann Jamieson) not to tell Chloe or Mack that she had visited there.

Charity apologized for visiting Reuben as she had planned and told Amy, “You know what, actually I feel really awful, I feel so pitiful.”

“Do me a favor, don’t tell Chloe I came with you thinking I passed something in the car.
