Emmerdale actress Michelle Hardwick has stepped up security at her home in Leeds after homophobic death threats continue to endanger her family’s safety.
The 46-year-old Wakefield resident came out as gay nine years ago when she was with ex Rosie Nicoll, whom she married, and later split two years later.
Since dating producer wife Kate Brooks, with whom she shares a son, the couple have received threats, so the troubling “police had to be called.”

On Monday, the soap star, who plays Vanessa Woodfield in Emmerdale, took to her Instagram stories to share her gratitude for a local security firm that helped her ramp up protection around her family home in the northern countryside.
She wrote to her 125,000 followers: ‘Just wanted to say what a fantastic service we’ve had from the very first phone call to the end result.
“Anyone in the Leeds/Wakefield area who needs security solutions, look no further than @msc.security.solutions.
“This was a fully paid job, not a paid advertisement. I just wanted to post because they were fantastic.”

Michelle revealed in May that the couple was “horribly” trolling, showing them the “real dark side” of social media, despite the “majority of people” being “awesome and supportive.”
She told OK! Magazine at the time: ‘We’ve been trolling a bit in recent years. And there have been certain times when the police had to be called because there were death threats.
“If they mention your son’s name and you just say ‘Really? I’m just in a soap opera, you know, we’re not hurting anyone.’
The couple are now expecting their second child, a girl, after making a live TV gender reveal last month.
The Emmerdale actress, 46, shared the exciting news on ITV’s Loose Women, saying: ‘So baby number two is a little girl.’
The couple are also the parents of son Teddy, whom they welcomed in October 2020 and joined them on the show to reveal the good news.
Michelle and Kate revealed that their donor is also Teddy’s biological father and he is open to meeting the kids when they are 18 if they want to see him.
