Emma Stone will reunite with her frequent collaborator, Yorgos Lanthimos, for the upcoming conspiracy film Bugonia.
The 35-year-old performer will take on a leading role in the project, which will focus on two men who kidnap an influential CEO after becoming convinced that the individual is secretly an alien.
The actress – who won an Academy Award for her work in one of the 50-year-old director’s films – will also be joined by Jesse Plemons in the feature film, which is based on the Korean film Save the Green Planet, which debuted in 2003 .
Bugonia’s script will be written by Will Tracy, with Lanthimos, Ari Aster and Lars Knudsen set to serve as producers, reports Variety.
Focus Features chairman Peter Kujawski issued a statement describing the Dogtooth director as “a cinematic visionary with a unique style that has captivated audiences around the world.

Producer Kyoungboum Ko also stated that he expected Lanthimos’ work to “create a dynamic chemical fusion with his unique style and the novelty of the story.”
Stone first worked with the director on his dark comedy The Favorite, which was released in 2018.
The feature also starred Olivia Colman and Rachel Weisz, with the former winning the Academy Award for Best Actress for her work in the feature.
The Zombieland star was also nominated for the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress, which ultimately went to Regina King.
Stone and Lanthimos reunited for Poor Things, based on the novel of the same name by Alasdair Gray.
The film also boasted the talents of artists such as Willem Dafoe, Ramy Youssef and Margaret Qualley.
Poor Things debuted last year to widespread acclaim from critics and audiences alike.

The feature film’s crew also took home several Oscars for their work on the project, with Stone taking home the award for Best Actress.
Stone and Lanthimos also collaborated on the upcoming absurdist anthology film Kinds Of Kindness, which will also feature the talents of Dafoe, Qualley and Plemons.
The film made its debut at the Cannes Film Festival last Friday, where it was positively received by critics.
Kinds Of Kindness is currently set to hit theaters in the United States on June 21st.
