Emma Navarro reaches her first major semifinal, beats Paula Badosa at the US Open
NEW YORK — Emma Navarro reached her first Grand Slam semifinal on Tuesday by beating Paula Badosa 6-2, 7-5 at the US Open.
Navarro, the The 13th-seeded American who had never won a match in the main draw of her home tournament This year she advanced to Thursday’s semifinals, where she faced either No. 2 Aryna Sabalenka or seventh-seeded Zheng Qinwen.

Navarro then won six games in a row, while Badosa’s play collapsed.
Two other Americans were hoping to secure a spot in the semifinals on Tuesday. Twelfth-seeded Taylor Fritz followed Navarro onto the court at Arthur Ashe Stadium against fourth-seeded Alexander Zverev, the 2020 US Open runner-up, while 20th-seeded Frances Tiafoe took on ninth-seeded Grigor Dimitrov in the evening.
