Emma Corrin could follow in Keira Knightly’s footsteps with a new role.
The actor, 28, has been eyed for the lead role in a new Netflix adaptation of Pride and Prejudice.
The Crown star would play Elizabeth Bennet in the streaming giant’s version of Jane Austen’s 1813 novel, which is already in early development.
The series is being written by Everything I Know About Love author Dolly Alderton, who is working on a ‘progressive’ version of the novel.
A source said The sun: ‘Dolly is working on a Pride And Prejudice script for Netflix and thinks Emma would be perfect to play Elizabeth.

The series will be written by Everything I Know About Love author Dolly Alderton, who will write a ‘progressive’ version of the novel.
‘She is a big fan of Emma’s work, especially in The Crown, where Emma played Princess Diana.
‘Dolly is also very progressive and progressive, so thinks having a non-binary star in the role would be a brilliant move.’
And a sign of Dolly’s progressive thinking is her choice to select Emma in the lead role.
Emma, currently working on the queer feminist retelling of 1001 Arabian Nights, came out as non-binary in 2021 and uses they/their pronouns.
The actor said at the time that they felt “more seen” when “she” was mentioned, before revealing that they wanted to embrace femininity and masculinity rather than choosing one or the other.
They added that they still loved all the feminine part of them, but they wanted to explore the new part of them that was non-binary and masculine.
Emma’s casting for the lead role comes after Keira Knightly co-starred in the Regency-era project alongside Matthew Macfadyen in 2007.
According to The sunNetflix is keen to continue production on the series following their successful adaptation of Persuasion starring Dakota Johnson as Anne Eliott.
Dolly is a big fan of Emma’s work and believes having a non-binary star in the lead role will modernize the story and build on Keira’s iconic performance.
The BBC is also adapting the novel for a limited series. Called The Other Bennet Sister, it will focus on the often overlooked character of Mary.
The news comes as Emma has been working on their new project, 100 Nights of Heroes, and was spotted on set with their co-star Maika Monroe.
Emma and Maika’s latest project is a feminist retelling of 1001 Nights, or Arabian Nights and follows a charming house guest played by Nicholas Galitzine, who arrives at a remote castle and is introduced to a negligent husband, his innocent bride Cherry (Maika). ), and their devoted maid Hero (Emma).
In the film, based on Isabel Greenberg’s graphic novel of the same name, Nicolas plays a lecherous villain who arrives at his friends’ house and makes a bet that he can seduce his wife Cherry within 100 days.
But Cherry is wise in his plans and, with the help of her lover and maid Hero, tells a series of captivating stories to distract the villain from his cruel intentions.
The film will also feature Peaky Blinders star Michael Keogh and singer Charli XCX in her first major film role.
