Eminem’s daughter Hailie Jade Mathers admits the rapper’s songs about her make her ‘sob’

Hailie Jade Mathers opened up about her childhood with rapper father Eminem in a recent episode of her podcast Just a little dark.

She said she can’t listen to some of his songs – especially the songs about her – without crying.

The 28-year-old social media influencer told her good friend and podcast co-host Brittany Ednie that she watched the video for Somebody Save Me, her father’s recent collaboration with Jelly Roll.

“I watched it all the way through and I don’t think I can do it again. I absolutely cry every time I hear it,” Hailie said.

“It’s a great video. And it’s fun to see bits of us when we were younger,” she said.

In Somebody Save Me, Eminem raps, “I’m sorry I chose drugs and put them over you / Sorry I didn’t love you enough to give them up.”

The video flashes through scenes of Hailie’s childhood with her siblings Alaina, 31, and Stevie, 35, as Eminem watches them.

Eminem raps, “Hailey, I’m so sorry I wasn’t there for your first guitar recital,” he raps as she plays a teenage pink acoustic guitar.

He also expresses regret for not walking her down the aisle when she got married and for missing the birth of her first child.

Eminem, who has struggled with prescription drug addiction in the past, has been sober for 16 years.

She continued, “Between that and Temporary, I mean, I can’t. I sobbed audibly, I think, on both songs, but especially on Temporary.

The Slim Shady artist dedicated Temporary to his daughter, and the song addresses his eventual death, urging her to move on and be happy.

Mockingbird is another song Hailie can’t listen to without crying. “The older I get, the less I can listen to the songs,” she said.

She also gained more perspective on her childhood, crediting her parents Eminem and Kim Scott for shielding her from the unpleasant aspects of their lives back then.

“Watching the video and listening to the songs, I think my parents did a really good job raising me without me realizing how bad it was,” she said.

“But now that I’m an adult, it’s so scary to think about it in retrospect. And I think that’s why I get so emotional, just thinking that this could have happened,” she continued.

“That’s the point of the song, of course, but I’m saying, if you’ve ever lost an addict or a loved one, I feel for you and that’s how I feel about it.”
