EMILY PRESCOTT: Lily Allen’s TV show Dreamland destroyed by Margate companies where singer’s Sky Atlantic comedy is set

Lily Allen’s TV acting debut in the comedy-drama Dreamland may have received great reviews, but not from some of the businesses in Margate, where the series is set.

I can reveal that Sky Atlantic has come under fire for mocking some of Kent’s popular tourist attractions on posters for the show. Lily stars as the black sheep of an already dysfunctional family.

Posters have been hanging around Margate for weeks, but some business owners have complained that Sky didn’t ask them for permission.

For example, the Crab Museum is referenced on a poster that reads: “White as sharp as the claws in the Crab Museum – Dreamland.”

The museum cheekily posted on Instagram: “We recently learned that a giant evil multinational has used our name to promote their latest show. We would like to take this opportunity to clarify that we were not approached at any point in this regard.” Sky says the idea is to celebrate Margate’s culture.

Lily, left, who is married to actor David Harbour, plays one of four sisters on the show, alongside former Doctor Who star Freema Agyeman, with her below.
